So You Say You've Got This Idea On How To Get Writers Here... (The 100-day, 100-Question Great Star Wars Blogathon, Question 22 (AND BLOGFEST!)

No, the answer to drawing writers in is probably not putting the word "Great" in the title of a post (although that can't hurt; I'm surprised I didn't think of it earlier.)

There is BIG NEWS AFOOT! Or Great Happenings, if you will. Wasn't there a book or something in which a character said "Great happenings are afoot?" or something like that? Yes, there was -- even as I typed that I remembered what it was: It was The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, and Slartibartfast said it to Arthur. Or something not completely unlike it, to Douglas Adams that phrase a little.

Here is what is afoot: I want more people on the Star Wars Blogathon because... well, because it's more interesting and also because I like the publicity and it never hurts to have more people reading your (my) blog.

So I am ADDING A NEW FEATURE to the 100-day, 100-question Great Star Wars Blogathon: A Blogfest!

No, no, come back, Grumpy!

Here's the new feature: I'm going to do biweekly writing challenges that people can post onto their blogs, with a link to this Blogathon, and will award points for the biweekly writing challenges, as well as points for answering and points for pretty much everything else I can think of. Most of those points will be captured by Andrew Leon -- we all know that, right? -- but at least he's giving away points now (he bestowed 10 points on Rusty, as reflected in the standings).

So, to recap:

There will still be daily questions, with my thoughts on Star Wars or other things (and intermittent posts on other subjects) and points awarded for answering, being the correct number of commenter, mentioning the Blogathon on your blog, and referring people.

But there will also be Biweekly Blogathon Blogfest Star Wars Writing Challenges, starting today. You can take part or not take part as you choose: BUT

BUT

BUT

Posting an entry in the biweekly writing challenge gets you 100 points PLUS 10 points per comment on your biweekly writing challenge entry! AND

AND

AND

When you comment here with a link to your biweekly writing challenge post (which you can post at any time before the deadline), you'll be entered in the weekly prize drawing AND

BUT

WAIT I GOT CONFUSED

AND

I will pick the winner(s) of the Biweekly Writing Challenge and will repost their story here, as well as add that person's book (if they have one) into the prize package for that week.

It's all complicated, I know, but what do you expect from an overtired lawyer.

So:

Here's today's question, worth 28 points:

Who... or what... was Guanta?

Commenter number 3 gets 10 extra points (provided he or she is not commenter number two, also).

If you're new to this, here are the complete rules, and here are the standings.

AND, here is the first Biweekly Writing Star Wars Blogathon Challenge:
Between now and Sunday, March 25 (which is more than 2 weeks but I want all the deadlines the same), post a 250-words-or-less Fan Fiction Fan Fiction, in which one of your characters from a story you wrote tries to write a piece of Star Wars fan fiction. Put the link in the comments here and let me know and I'll repost links as well as judge the entries... and you get 100 points for your entry, no matter what.

Whew. I'm glad I got through all that.

Oh man... I feel so bad beating Rusty to the answer on this one.
Not bad enough to not answer, though.
Guanta was a wookie warrior during the clone wars.

Okay. I might not be able to enter every single post but I will try Briane. I will also try to spread the word.

Nooooooooooooo! Nonononono. No.

That did not just happen.

Hey, I did wait to make my follow up comment until after you got the 10 points. I waited on purpose, even.

I'm probably going to cheat on the first writing challenge. My son has written a double fan fic piece based on both House and Star Wars, so I think that should work pretty well. It's too long, but I'll a 250 word excert.

Andrew: cheat away. Cheating is a form of lying, which I encourage. Post your son's entire House thing. I'm intrigued by the premise.

Michael: thanks, and the beauty of the Blogathon is you dont need to be here everyday because Andrew's about a zillion points ahead, anyway.

Thanks for the tag. Sounds like fun.

I won't be able to join you - I'm off to the Bologna Children's Book Fair and won't be back until Mar 26.

Have a "great" time.

You all are a hoot! I wish I could join in but I'm moving next week and taking a little blog break while I do it. Thanks for the tag though!

I was referred over here by Grumpy. I'll have to give the fan fiction fan fiction some thought. I've never written a piece of fan fiction, much less fan fiction fan fiction. At any rate, I'm a new follower of this blog.

I think you mean cachet. A cache is a place to leave things out of reach of animals. Here in Alaska they're generally like a little log house on stilts tall enough a bear can't get at what's stored inside.
And while I like Star Wars, I certainly don't know any trivia from it.
