Who'd ever imagine that a new drug might have unknown side effects?

So I was reading about the potential for a yaz recall on this one website.  Yaz, you'll remember (?) and Yasmin were these birth control drugs that were heavily marketed a while back and they were promised to be safer, with fewer side effects.  Something like 80,000,000 women were reported to have used them, only to find out later that yaz side effects could be really serious, including blood clot conditions.

That led to more than 10,000 lawsuits filed by people alleging injuries from Yaz, and the FDA is considering a ban on the sale.  The risk of blood clots (leading to stroke, DVT, and pulmonary embolisms) can be increased (this site said) by as much as as 74%.

Women who took Yaz should consult with a doctor to see if they're at risk, and click those links for more information on this serious issue.

I'm wondering about Provigil. My brother says it is a miracle, but it is uber expensive too.
