Andrew got yesterday's 6 points, and nobody got the bonus question about which spaceship this is and who might have flown it:
Which means I've finally stumped Andrew Leon; all I had to do was make the question really really really impossible, which I guess I did inadvertently.

That ship is the Velociraptor, the "personal vessel of the bounty hunter Raptor Duk-Val," and I read about it on something called "Star Wars: Exodus," which is where I also read that "Raptor Duk-Val," as a result of a blast of radiation in utero or something, is aging only as fast as a Wookie.

So, there's that, Rusty: get enough radiation in your system and you might just turn into a Wookie.

So because nobody got that, I had to wonder today then what the heck Star Wars Exodus is, and I've now answered that tonight, as I sat down to write this at about 8:00, and from 8:00 to 8:41, as I type this, would quickly read a paragraph or two, then run upstairs to start the movie Pocahontas for the boys, then come down to read a paragraph or two, then run upstairs to get the boys a quick snack before bed, then back down, then back up to tuck them in, then back down, then back up to change the movies over, and so on and so forth, so I've now decided that Mr F and Mr Bunches don't want me to read about Star Wars: Exodus but from what I was able to gather, it's a form of roleplaying/fanfiction writing that was created in reaction to what appears to be a claim that other Star Wars roleplaying games were kind of exclusionary:

It sounds okay except that the more people tell me they're "friendly" or "welcoming" the more I think "cult serial killer." That's really more due to my upbringing, though -- Mom always made sure that us kids knew that everyone in the world was a serial killer, a rapist, or both, as well as warning us that people in big cities are always looking to pick your pocket. That's why I don't trust you.

Anyway, Star Wars: Exodus is kind of a collaborative fanfic page where you can write up a character and other people will react to it and you can create role-playing adventures that way. You choose a character, pick a board (they've got three or four) and start writing, and people react to you.

Raptor Duk-Val is, as far as I can tell, a character on the Star Wars: Exodus boards, and in fact his last two stories were posted over 7 years ago.

Which is how, I guess, I came to post a completely unanswerable bonus trivia question yesterday: I had no idea, when I started this, the extent to which Star Wars had spread and the myriad of things related to Star Wars on the Internet. And here I'd always thought this was true:



But it turns out it's good for other things, too!

Which brings me to what I'm really thinking about today:

Why are there so few songs about Star Wars?



I had, when I first began posting these questions, intended to mix in not just fan-made videos and crummy costumes and ETSY junk about Star Wars but also songs about the movie... only to find that there is precious little music about, or based on, or making reference to, Star Wars.

Even that one up above, there, starts out with a Close Encounters reference.

So I googled that, too, and came up with Time Magazine's list of "Ten Freaky Songs About Star Wars," most of which seemed not worth mentioning much beyond this one:



I mean, there's a Weird Al song there, but I think if you're over the age of 12 and still like Weird Al you've got problems.

But that Time list had to include a performance by a band that admittedly had nothing to do with Star Wars at all just to get to 10, and also had to include a song from the famed Star Wars Christmas Special, so at best they could come up with 8 freaky songs.

So consider this: If Star Wars has spawned six movies, a cartoon series, countless books, and tons of fan fiction, why hasn't it inspired people to write songs?

Is there something about Star Wars that doesn't appeal to musicians?

Or is there something about the movies that makes it difficult to write songs about them?

That's not the trivia question. That's just something to think about as I go upstairs to see why Mr Bunches and Mr F still aren't sleeping -- it's 9:11 as I write this, so that tells you how this night is going.
